Description

Gravée Main represents a new milestone in Louis Erard's Métiers d'Art series. Hand engraving plays a central role in this limited edition of 99 unique timepieces.

From the case to the bezel, lugs, and crown, down to the buckle – every metal component is completely hand-engraved and finished in a demanding process lasting over 50 hours.

Hand engraving brings something machines cannot: uniqueness. Every cut, every curve is made by hand. No two pieces are alike. Just one artist, one piece of steel.

Gravée Main is craftsmanship on the wrist. Tradition with character. Artisanal precision with expression. Centuries-old techniques transformed into wearable and collectible art. A watch for those who know.

"What I love most about these collaborations is how minimalist watches completely transform in the hands of an artist. Starting from the clean lines of the Noirmont model, baroque floral motifs gradually take over the entire object. It's steel, yet it feels alive.

Gravée Main is about contrast: rich ornamentation in beautiful tension with a clean design. These watches are unique not only in what they show, but also in what they say. They speak of time, art, legacy, but also of resilience and the need to protect and pass on precious crafts.

Artist behind the metal

Each Gravée Main is hand-engraved in Ukraine by Maksym Shavlak, a watchmaker and artist known for transforming antique watches into modern hybrids. With his tools, he breathes new life into steel.

“Engraving a case is more than just decoration, it's a way of letting the metal speak.”

What began as a series of design exchanges over a year ago has evolved into a full-fledged creative partnership. Gravée Main is its result. It all started with a meeting, a conversation, a spark of shared vision.

“I showed Louis Erard what I do. They saw something raw and authentic in my work. They didn't want to use engraving just as a visual element; they wanted to rebuild the entire watch around it. To give it space. To let the steel speak.”

— Maksym Shavlak
